As part of our services, Bar Ilan University (“the University”, “We”, “Us”) provides access to a digital community application (“the App” or “the Service”) hosted on the Belongtail Ltd. (“Belong”) platform.

The University respects your privacy and makes every effort to provide a platform that would live up to the highest user privacy standards.

This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of your Personal Data when using the Service and describes your privacy rights.

Any use of the services for any purpose is subject to this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use, as well as Belong’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use, all of which together constitute a legally binding agreement between the University, Belong and the End User.

Please read those documents carefully so you can fully understand the practices in relation to Personal Data.

Accordingly, by using the Service (including any content appearing therein, and including use of the Service itself), the user declares that he has read and understood the contents of this document and the other documents referenced above and agree to their terms. If you don’t agree with this Privacy Policy or any other document mentioned above, please refrain from using the Service.

The University may modify its Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect technological, business, legal, or regulatory changes. Updates will be published in this document. Changes shall take effect on the date of the last update indicated in the document and continued use of the Service after that date shall constitute the user's acceptance of the changes. If the Privacy Policy is amended to comply with any legal requirement, such amendments may take effect immediately or as required by law. You are responsible for periodically reviewing the Privacy Policy and its update date.

This document is written in masculine form for convenience only and refers to all genders. We thank you for taking the time to read this document.

Definitions:

1. The University – Bar Ilan University, Faculty of Medicine, The RBF Galilee Diabetes SPHERE
2. Controller – A person or entity who determines, alone or jointly with others, the purposes and means of processing personal data. (the University).
3. Processor – an external entity to the Controller who processes data on its behalf. (Belong).
4. Personal Data – any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
5. Applicable Legislation – (1) the Israeli privacy Act and its regulations, including the Privacy Protection (Data Security) Regulations, 2017; (2) any other applicable Data Protection Laws that might be applicable to the Controller.
6. “End User Data” means data pertaining to an identified or identifiable End User (or other data pertaining to an End User which is defined as Personal Data hereunder or information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person regulated as “personal data” under applicable law) which is directly or indirectly collected by the University in connection with the End User’s use of the Service , whether or not during such active use of the Service and whether or not actively supplied by the End User.

Data Protection Officer

The University has appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) for you to contact if you have any questions or concerns about Personal Data policies or practices. You may contact our DPO via e-mail: DPO@biu.ac.il.

Data Controller and Operator

The University is both the Data Controller and Operator of this Service. We determine the purposes and mean of processing your personal data and are responsible for compliance with the Applicable Legislation.

Belong, as the platform provider, acts as a Processor and technological service provider on behalf of the University.

Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

While using the Service, the University will not require the user to provide with any Personal Data except for email and password for the creation of an account.

You may upload or share any information you wish, including Personal Data; however, this is entirely subject to your free will and full consent. The University does not require the sharing of Personal Data as part of the Service.

Usage Data

Usage Data is collected automatically when using the Service.

Usage Data may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data.

Use of Your Personal Data

The University may use Personal Data for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain the Service, including monitoring the usage of our Service.
• To analyse, support, and improve the Service including your experience of it, as well as personalize the Service and App.
• To Manage Your Account: to manage Your registration as a user of the Service. The Personal Data You provide can give You access to different functionalities of the Service that are available to You as a registered user such as providing our products and services and/or downloading an asset.
• To Contact You: To contact You by email or any other communicating tool you provide us with for the purpose of contacting you or other equivalent forms of electronic communication, such as mobile notifications regarding updates or informative communications related to the functionalities, products, newsletters, business connections or contracted services, including the security updates, when necessary or reasonable for their implementation.
• To provide You with news and marketing communications, special offers, and general information about other goods, services, webinars, and events that we offer that are similar to those that you have already enquired about unless You have opted not to receive such information.
• To manage Your requests: To attend to and manage Your requests to Us as well as provide an answer and further information to the extent requested.
• For other purposes: We may use the information for other business and legitimate purposes, such as data analysis, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns, and evaluating and improving our Service, products, marketing, and your experience.

Data Security & Confidentiality

We apply appropriate security and organizational measures to protect your data, in accordance with applicable Israeli regulations and best practices.

Sharing and Disclosing Your Data

• With Service Providers: The University may discloses information, including Personal Data it collects from and/or about you, to our trusted third-party service providers and subcontractors, who have agreed to confidentiality restrictions and who use such information solely on our behalf to (1) help us provide you with the Service; (2) aid in their understanding of how users are using our Service; (3) for marketing.
• With Affiliates: The University may share Your information with its affiliates, in which case we will require those affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.
• With Your consent: The University may disclose Your personal information for any other purpose with your consent.

• Business Transactions: If The University is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, Your Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before Your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
• Law enforcement: Under certain circumstances, The University may be required to disclose Your Data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency).
• Other legal requirements: The University may disclose your Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
• Comply with a legal obligation.
• Protect and defend the rights or property of the University.
• Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service.
• Protect the personal safety of Users of the Service or the public.
• Protect against legal liability.

Your Rights

You have the right to access Personal Data held about you in the Service, either personally, through an authorized legal representative in writing, or via a legal guardian. The University will respond to your request as soon as possible, in accordance with the provisions of the law.        
Following your review of the Personal Data, if you find that it is inaccurate, incomplete, unclear, or not up to date, you are entitled to request the correction or deletion of this data.
